Joanna Bender, a proud homeschool graduate and daughter of Jill Dixon, has been an integral part of EAL since its inception. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the esteemed Armstrong Atlantic State University (now known as the Armstrong campus of Georgia Southern), where she graduated magna cum laude.
Joanna’s passion for languages took her abroad to Seville, Spain and Cuernavaca, Mexico for immersive studies. In 2008, she volunteered with WWOOF España, further enriching her cultural experiences.
Her teaching career spans several prestigious institutions including Hancock Day School, Rambam Day School, and Savannah Classical Academy. For the past seven years, she has been at the helm of the Rincon campus of EAL, shaping the future of education.
In addition to her directorial role, Joanna imparts knowledge in ballet, foreign languages, and high school science to homeschoolers, showcasing her diverse skill set.
Joanna resides in Savannah with her husband, Alex, and their four children: Lucy, Elliot, Maverick, and Piper. Her life is a testament to her commitment to education and her love for her family and community.
