Joanna Bender, daughter of Jill Dixon, is a homeschool graduate who attended and graduated from EAL. Joanna attended the former Armstrong Atlantic State University (now the Armstrong campus of Georgia Southern), where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors in Spanish. She has studied abroad in Seville, Spain and Cuernavaca, Mexico, and volunteered with WWOOF España in 2008. She has taught at Hancock Day School, Rambam Day School, and Savannah Classical Academy, and has directed the Rincon campus of EAL for the last five years. She currently teaches Spanish I and II and Advanced Physical Science to homeschoolers. She also offers classical ballet classes. She resides in Savannah with her husband Alex, and children Lucy, Elliot, Maverick, and Piper.
